The SEAL Heritage Community Center (SHCC)
To honor and serve this community of heroes and their families, the SEAL Heritage Community Center (SHCC) is being constructed on land provided by the U.S. Navy on the Naval Amphibious Base Little Creek in Norfolk, VA. This NSW community center will comprise 18,000 square feet and will house a library and archive with historical information and educational materials; a memorial roll call to fallen teammates; an auditorium; conference room; and Heritage Hall. The SHCC will be a facility where families will receive support services, hold recreational and social events for children of deployed personnel, and host Naval Special Warfare community functions and memorials.
The SEAL Heritage Community Center (SHCC) will function as the first building of its kind devoted to serving the professional and personal requirements of this elite warrior community. The main function of the SHCC is to provide a facility dedicated to the three functional pillars of the Naval Special Warfare Foundation: Education and Motivation, Health and Welfare, and History and Heritage. The SHCC will be equipped with a large open hall to provide for a variety of events; an auditorium for briefings, meetings, and memorial services; a conference room for smaller meetings; and facilities for meal preparation, providing a range of services to meet the needs of the NSW community.
After extensive meetings with the NSW commands and family support coordinators, we have identified many existing and future needs for the SHCC. At this time, the center’s estimated usage will exceed 300 days a year, with multiple events a day, and will provide for over 1600 hours of education and training, celebration, and information dissemination. Additionally, the center will offer a location to honor and mourn those heroes who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
